The Patriot PDP31 2TB Portable SSD combines a 2TB capacity with USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity and sequential speeds quoted up to 1000MB/s for both reads and writes. It is aimed at users who need significantly more portable storage than a 1TB drive provides but still want SSD-level transfer performance.
Two terabytes of capacity gives gaming, creative and professional users more room for large local backups, game libraries, high-resolution media and project archives. The drive remains small enough to travel with a notebook or workstation, making it suitable for users who regularly move large files between locations.
The PDP31 uses a full aluminium-alloy shell with a transparent window and includes a silicone bumper for extra protection against everyday impacts. USB Type-C provides a reversible connection, while the USB 3.2 Gen 2 controller gives the drive the bandwidth required to reach its quoted 1000MB/s-class performance on compatible systems.
Platform support includes Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, and Patriot also lists compatibility with PS5 for external storage use. Backward compatibility with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 means the drive can still be used on older hardware, although transfer speed will be reduced by the slower interface.
For users carrying large game, media or project libraries, the 2TB PDP31 offers a practical mix of high capacity, broad compatibility, durable construction and strong portable SSD performance.
Portable storage works best when the drive is used with a suitable cable and a host port that supports the intended speed. Keeping some free space on the SSD also helps maintain practical performance during large transfers. For important files, use the drive as one part of a backup routine rather than the only copy of the data.
For large transfers, the fastest results come from connecting the drive directly to a suitable high-speed port rather than through an older hub or adapter. Portable SSDs are especially useful for users who move between systems, carry project files off-site or keep a secondary local backup alongside cloud storage.
