The MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI is a premium LGA1700 ATX motherboard for high-performance Intel gaming and enthusiast builds. It supports 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors and combines the Z790 chipset with extensive DDR5, storage and expansion support.
Four DDR5 slots support up to 256GB of memory, with high overclocked speeds available on compatible modules. Intel XMP 3.0 support makes it easier to configure validated performance memory profiles without manually setting every memory parameter.
The Z790 platform gives builders considerably more expansion flexibility than entry-level Intel boards. Multiple PCIe slots, high-speed M.2 storage support and a broad rear I/O make it suitable for gaming PCs with several NVMe drives, capture hardware and other add-in devices.
Integrated wireless networking and fast wired LAN reduce the need for separate network adapters, while the board's power delivery and cooling design are intended for higher-end processors and sustained gaming workloads. HDMI 2.1 is available for CPUs with integrated graphics, although most systems built around this board will pair it with a discrete GPU.
The MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI is best suited to users building a feature-rich LGA1700 system around a Core i7, Core i9 or other high-performance processor. Its value is in platform flexibility, DDR5 tuning and expansion headroom rather than budget simplicity.
