The Intel Celeron G6900 is an entry-level Alder Lake desktop processor for LGA1700 systems where basic computing, office work and light everyday use matter more than heavy multitasking or gaming performance. Its two-core design keeps the platform simple and affordable while still placing the system on Intel's 12th-generation desktop socket.
The processor runs at 3.40GHz and includes 4MB of cache. That makes it a better fit for web browsing, document work, point-of-sale systems, home-office tasks and lightweight desktop applications than demanding content creation or modern high-end games.
Because it uses the LGA1700 socket, motherboard compatibility must be checked carefully. The board needs to support 12th-generation Intel processors and the chosen memory platform. Depending on the motherboard, an LGA1700 system may use DDR4 or DDR5, so memory cannot be selected from the processor name alone.
The G6900 is useful when the goal is to build a low-cost desktop around current-generation connectivity and storage rather than maximise CPU performance. It also gives system builders access to the broader LGA1700 ecosystem, including PCIe and NVMe support provided by the motherboard.
For a budget office PC, basic study machine or simple home desktop, the G6900 makes sense where low cost and platform compatibility are the priority. Users planning heavier gaming, streaming or creative work should move to a higher-core Core i3, i5 or better processor instead.
