The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX is a 24-core workstation processor for professionals who need more parallel processing power and expansion capability than a conventional desktop CPU provides. It is aimed at production systems handling rendering, engineering, code compilation, simulation and other demanding multi-threaded workloads.
Built for the sTR5 socket, the processor supports WRX90 and TRX50 workstation platforms. The memory subsystem uses eight-channel DDR5 RDIMM with support up to 6400 MT/s and ECC, which is particularly valuable in workloads that depend on large datasets and sustained system reliability.
The platform also supports PCIe 5.0 with a large lane count, allowing workstation builders to combine high-end graphics cards, NVMe storage and professional add-in hardware without the expansion limitations of mainstream desktop systems.
No cooler is included with the boxed processor, so a suitable sTR5 thermal solution is required. The rest of the build should also be planned around workstation-level power delivery and chassis airflow rather than ordinary consumer desktop assumptions.
For professionals who need substantial core count and workstation-class I/O but do not require the extreme 64-core tier, the 9965WX offers a strong middle position in the Threadripper PRO 9000 WX family.
